Susan Field

Ideas that matter

Susan arrived in Hong Kong at Chinese New Year 1986 with little more than a lust for travel and adventure – a dream she realized when she founded impactasia in 1990. Her background in hotel management equipped her well to focus on the opportunities that were emerging at that time – and have continued to boom in the world’s fastest growing economy.

As CEO of Cohn & Wolfe-impactasia in Greater China, Susan spends much of her time handling business development, internal mentoring, providing senior strategic counsel to clients and networking with some of the region’s most influential media and consumer brands.
Susan has overseen the market entry of dozens of international brands over the years, from hotels and restaurants to luxury goods and design. Her sense of adventure leads her teams to Dig Deeper and Imagine More, delivering client results that ‘wow’ time after time.

Bold brand work

Susan’s long track record in Asia has equipped her with an incredible understanding of the various cultures of Asia’s indigenous populations. Widely travelled, Susan is the “go to” person for many CEOs and senior executives who wish to tap into her incredible network in order to enhance their knowledge of, and gain a foothold in, new regions for expansion. Many global hotel clients turn to her to putting their brand on the map, a responsibility Susan relishes.

Highlights include working for Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, Sofitel Luxury Hotels, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, Welcome to Yorkshire, Harry Winston, Chic Outlet Shopping, Crystal Cruises and Mountain China Resorts.

Creative highlight

As Hong Kong prepared to stage its handover to China in 1997, Susan rented the only traditional Chinese sailing junk in Hong Kong and custom-designed a huge sail for her client, Glenfiddich single malt whisky.

She commissioned the boat to sail around Hong Kong harbor for the four-day event, in front of the world’s media and many millions of TV viewers around the globe.
